Harnessing the Power of Data: Transforming Sazka with a Comprehensive Data Governance Program

Adastra Business Consulting (ABC) completed a Data Governance project with Sazka, a prominent gaming and sports betting company in Europe.

Sazka sought to enhance the quality of its data and elevate its overall Data Governance maturity. As a result, the company enlisted the services of ABC to develop a comprehensive data governance program across the entire enterprise. The program primarily focused on establishing business glossary, data catalog and DG policies, standards and processes that would enhance the existing data quality and effectiveness of overall DG program and initiatives.

Throughout the project, the ABC team conducted interviews with key stakeholders at the Sazka. Their objective was to formalize and implement essential processes and tools in the areas of Data Governance and Data Quality. This included identifying and defining relevant roles and responsibilities, as well as developing a comprehensive set of regulatory and legal documents such as policies, standards, controlling procedures, and methodologies. The aim was to ensure the overall integrity and coherence of the Data Governance in Sazka.

ABC established specific targets and determined the scope of work for the implementation of the new DG Platform and program. In collaboration with the business, all milestones were carefully defined to align with their requirements and preferences. Additionally, the consulting team developed a comprehensive Data Governance Improvement plan, encompassing all pertinent aspects of Data Governance, to ensure the project's successful execution. This includes the following components:

• Conducting a comprehensive assessment of the current Data Governance maturity (AS IS) through interviews, workshops, and document audits.
• Development of a detailed explanation of the desired state of Data Governance (TO BE) outlining roles, processes, policies, and tools aligned with the Business and IT Strategy.
• Implementation of Ataccama ONE platform with Data Quality rules and business glossary repository.
• Development of 2 DG policies and 8 Data quality rules.
• Enterprise-wide data governance rollout program that consists of 5 DG policies and 15 processes from the DAMA wheel like Master and Reference Data Management, Data Security, DG Platform, Data Analytics and reporting, Data Access, and Data Integration.

Through the implementation roadmap for Data Governance, Sazka has significantly enhanced its ability to harness data-driven insights and make well-informed business decisions.
